Chetla Agrani Club

South KolkataFull guideFlagship pandal

A Chetla puja known for elaborate, big-budget devotional builds and for the political weight it draws every year — the club's chief patron is Kolkata's mayor.

Chetla Agrani Club, on Peary Mohan Roy Road in Chetla, South Kolkata, runs one of the city's higher-profile Durga Pujas — the kind that regularly draws the state's top political figures on inauguration day, a pattern that's been widely reported year after year. Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim serves as the puja's chief patron.

The club leans toward large-scale devotional set-pieces rather than pop-culture themes. Its 2025 pandal, titled "Amrit Kumbher Shondhane" (In Search of the Nectar), depicted the Samudra Manthan — the mythological churning of the cosmic ocean — built around a Shivalinga constructed from more than 3 crore (30 million) rudraksha beads, with a goddess idol presented in her Brahmacharini form and live percussion performers brought in from Allahabad and Varanasi for the festival.
