College Square Sarbojanin Durgotsab

Central KolkataFull guideFlagship pandal

The puja that turns College Square's historic pond into part of the pandal itself — an illuminated reflection few other Kolkata pujas can copy simply because few have a body of water to work with.

College Square Sarbojanin Durgotsab sits in the middle of Central Kolkata's College Street neighbourhood, beside Calcutta University and Presidency University, built around the large rectangular tank at the centre of College Square itself. What sets it apart from almost every other pandal in the city is purely geographic: the pond gives the organisers a still, reflective surface to light up, and the puja has leaned into that every year with elaborate waterside illumination that mirrors the pandal back at itself across the water.

That reflection effect is the reason the puja draws a steady stream of tourists and photographers on top of its regular local crowd of students and College Street regulars. Recent builds have used the water even more deliberately — the 2025 theme, an Angkor Wat-inspired temple build, was designed specifically with the pond's reflection of its architecture in mind.
